"The Hunter" Staffordshire platter by Franciscan. Hand engraved pattern with permanent underglaze. Marked "By Franciscan" on back. Made in Staffordshire.

Era: Late 1900's

Provenance: Scenes depicting country life and the thrill of the hunt have been part of Staffordshire pottery since the early 18th century. A pattern often found in country houses in England, "The Hunter"  details a man and his hound being welcomed home by his wife and child after a successful day in the fields.

Condition: Excellent. No visible signs of wear. Stamped on back.
